Salmon Creek K-9 Multiuse Building

The Salmon Creek School is located on a biologically rich site in coastal northern California, with acres of redwood forest and a salmon stream. In 2002 a nearby elementary school was closed, and the student body moved to the Salmon Creek (then) Middle School. Already overtaxed, they needed a new cafeteria and kitchen to handle the additional students. Additionally, it was envisioned that the school could serve as an environmental education and resource site for other schools and groups, as well as providing much needed community performance and gathering space. This building was designed to address all these functions, and express the campus' new broader role.
