Mesa House
San Juan County, Utah
Completed 2001
2,430 sq. ft.
Walls: Strawbale
Floor: Adobe

Situated on a mesa with beautiful scenery in all directions, it was a challenge to balance thermal efficiency while also including the views. By dividing the house into three connected blocks, each block has both solar access, and a set of different but diverse views. Backup heat is provided by in-floor radiant, powered by a ground source heat pump (a highly efficient electric boiler replacement).
